Last Friday with the guidance of my LINC teacher, my LINC classmates and I went to the TRL which is the biggest library in Toronto . The TRL is located downtown which is far from my home. In order to arrive at the TRL on time, I got up earlier. At approximately 9:40 am, we met on the first floor of TRL.
Although I learned some information about the TRL on website several weeks ago, I was still amazed by the TRL, for its clean, bright, silent, convenient environment. I haven't seen a library like this ever.
After about ten minutes rest, we all went to the ESL centre where a nice librarian introduced it to us, mainly focusing on how to use books, CDs/DVDs to study English, how can we borrow some books to take home, how can we read some books at library. In a word, ESL may do a great favor to a non-native English speaker.
On the ground floor, we saw two kinds of interest things. One is all kinds of newspapers come from all over the world include Chinese newspapers. Another is an old type microfilm which I've seen about ten years ago.
As a newcomer, I enjoyed this kind of field trip, for it not only helps me learn the culture of Canada, but helps me adapt to the new life.
Yay, so glad you found the field trip helpful! :)
